Therapeutic Approach
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy in New York City
People seek therapy to address complex problems, foster a stronger sense of self, and gain a deeper understanding of their emotional and behavioral patterns. From the beginning of treatment, I’ll work collaboratively alongside you to explore your concerns, listening deeply and sharing my understanding, while also allowing space for your own emotional expression and self-knowledge to unfold.
My therapeutic approach is guided by openness, care, and humor, and informed by psychodynamic and psychoanalytic thinking. Following your lead, we’ll delve into the underlying factors that contribute to your challenges. Symptoms of anxiety and depression often lessen when we bare our unfiltered thoughts and feelings to another individual. As your therapist, my role is to be attuned to you as we work collaboratively in pursuit of your learning about yourself more deeply.
Therapy for Young Adults, Adolescents & Students
I deeply enjoy working with the student and young adult/adolescent population; I see high school-aged adolescents and college-aged young adults in my private practice and during my tenure as a Clinician at New York University’s Student Health Center and Wellness Exchange, I worked with countless students in short-term counseling across the university’s various undergraduate and graduate schools. I am attuned to the needs of a diverse, global student population and recognizing the unique challenges they face.
I value helping young adult and adolescent clients navigate their formative years in school, addressing issues such as identity, relationships, and academic pressures.
In Person Psychotherapy
While online therapy has become increasingly popular in recent years, it's important to recognize its limitations. Virtual sessions may offer convenience and accessibility, but they lack the depth and personal connection that in-person therapy provides. In a city like New York, where stress and anxiety are rampant, the need for genuine human connection is more crucial than ever.
In-person therapy allows for a deeper level of engagement and understanding. I can pick up on non-verbal cues, body language, and your tone of voice, all of which provide valuable insights that may be missed if we were meeting in a virtual setting. This real-time feedback enhances the therapeutic process and fosters a stronger bond in our work together as therapist and client.
In-Person Therapy in NYC
The therapeutic relationship is at the core of in-person therapy. Based on trust, respect, and mutual understanding, this relationship provides a foundation for healing and growth. I prioritize offering a private and confidential in-person space for the work that I do with clients; being somewhere you feel comfortable and secure is what allows individuals to feel safe to explore their innermost thoughts and emotions.
The therapeutic relationship also provides a sense of accountability and motivation. Knowing that there is someone who genuinely cares about their well-being can be a powerful motivator for individuals to actively engage in the therapeutic process. This support and encouragement can make all the difference in overcoming mental health challenges and achieving personal goals.
